An air ambulance has reportedly evacuated the woman diagnosed with Ebola virus in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) out of Nigeria

The patient identified as the wife of a Swiss diplomat in Nigeria, was flown out of the country early in the morning through the private jet wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

In a post via X handle on Monday, ARISE News said it received information that the patient would be evacuated around 6am using a medical evacuation aircraft already waiting at the airport.

Its crew later captured footage of ambulances arriving at the airport in a convoy accompanied by diplomatic vehicles. Airport officials reportedly cordoned off the private wing before the station obtained footage of the aircraft and its crew.

According to the report, the three-vehicle convoy included a vehicle belonging to an international agency that entered the airport’s private jet section.

“The airport officials cordoned off the private wing but that its crew eventually obtained videos showing a medical evacuation aircraft and its crew preparing to evacuate the sick passenger, believed to be the Ebola index case.”

A source said the Federal Government would announce the medical evacuation only after the aircraft had taken off and left Nigerian airspace.

However, the reported evacuation had not been independently confirmed in the information available at the time of the report.

Recall that the Federal Government confirmed an Ebola case in the FCT on October 20 and announced that 44 contacts had been identified.
