Patients and hospital staff at P and G Hospital in Abule-Egba, Lagos State, have foiled an alleged attempt by a woman to steal a newborn baby.

The suspect was reportedly apprehended on Saturday after she allegedly disguised herself as a pregnant woman by stuffing pieces of cloth under her clothes, while another woman allegedly posed as someone who had accompanied her to assist with childbirth.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident on Sunday, stating that the suspect had been taken into custody and would be charged to court after investigations were concluded.

In one of the viral videos circulating online, the suspect was seen being forced onto a seat as the pieces of cloth stuffed under her clothing fell to the floor.

As she was being dragged towards the seat, a man dressed in traditional attire was seen slapping her across the face, while other individuals questioned her over the alleged attempt.

Another video showed the suspect being held and escorted into a car.
