BREAKING: Tinubu Returns to Nigeria, Says ‘I’m Hale, Strong and Ready to Work’

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending about four weeks in Europe, declaring that he is healthy, strong and ready to resume his official duties.

Tinubu arrived in Lagos on Tuesday evening from Paris, France, where he spent the latter part of his working vacation.

Speaking to journalists after his arrival, the President dismissed concerns about his health, saying he remained fit and prepared to continue governing the country.

“Rumours will always emanate from politics. I am hale and strong. I am ready to work. The fact remains that I am here, healthy, sound and ready to go,” Tinubu said.

The President left Nigeria on August 30 for London before proceeding to Paris. The Presidency described the trip as a working vacation and later announced an extension of his stay by a few days.

His prolonged absence from the country generated public and political debate, with opposition figures questioning the duration of the trip and his decision not to personally attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Presidency, however, maintained that Tinubu remained in regular contact with government officials in Nigeria and continued to direct affairs of state while abroad.

Vice President Kashim Shettima represented him at several official engagements, including the UN General Assembly.

While in France, Tinubu held meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré. The Presidency also said the President’s engagements included discussions with investors and talks on major investment projects, including the proposed Gateway Deep Sea Port in Ogun State.

Tinubu is expected to remain in Lagos for the 66th Independence Anniversary celebrations on October 1.

He is scheduled to participate in official activities marking Nigeria’s independence before returning to Abuja.
