DSS Secures Death Sentence for Suspected Kidnapper Over Sokoto Killings
The Department of State Services (DSS) has secured a death sentence against Ibrahim Usman, also known as Dan Iyali, over his involvement in the kidnapping and killing of three persons in Sokoto State in September 2023.
Usman was convicted by the High Court of Justice of Sokoto State, Sokoto Judicial Division, following a four-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, culpable homicide punishable by death, and voluntarily causing grievous hurt without provocation.
He was prosecuted alongside other suspects who are currently at large.
According to the DSS, the case stemmed from Usman’s alleged involvement in the abduction and subsequent killing of three victims in the state in September 2023.
Following the trial, the court found Usman guilty of the offences and imposed the death penalty in accordance with the relevant provisions of the law.
The DSS described the conviction as another significant outcome of its efforts to bring individuals involved in serious crimes to justice.
