BREAKING: Police Arrest Delta Education Commissioner Ashibogwu, Four Others Over Deputy Director’s Death
The Delta State Police Command has arrested the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, and four others in connection with the investigation into the death of Deputy Director Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda in Asaba.
The arrest was confirmed on Monday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who said the latest arrests bring the number of persons in police custody over the incident to five.
Edafe said the Command has also launched a manhunt for two key suspects, Mrs Clementine Ufuoma, Director of Basic and Secondary Education, and Clement Apia, driver to the Commissioner for Secondary Education, whose presence is required for further investigation.
According to the police, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, has urged the two fleeing suspects to make themselves available to the police without delay.
“The investigation will be pursued thoroughly, impartially and professionally,” CP Erale said, assuring the family of the deceased and members of the public that due process will be followed and anyone found culpable will be brought to justice.
The Command also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
Adeda, a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, died on September 25, 2026, after an alleged altercation at the office of the Commissioner in the Prof. Chike Edozie Secretariat, Asaba — an incident that triggered NLC indefinite strike and a government administrative panel.
