The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has directed members of the technical crew of the Super Falcons to step down from their positions with immediate effect.

The decision was taken by the NFF Executive Committee on Monday following the team’s disappointing performances in recent competitions.

“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the @NGSuper_Falcons to step down with immediate effect,” the NFF announced on X.

The move comes after the nine-time African champions suffered a historic early exit at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, crashing out in the quarter-finals for the first time in the competition’s history.

The Super Falcons were beaten 1-0 by Cameroon in the last eight, a result that denied Nigeria an automatic qualification spot for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Nigeria subsequently entered the African playoffs, where they faced South Africa for another route to the global tournament. However, the Falcons suffered another setback, losing 2-1 to Banyana Banyana.

The defeat ended Nigeria’s hopes of featuring at the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil, marking a major setback for one of Africa’s most successful women’s football teams.

The NFF’s latest decision is expected to pave the way for changes within the Super Falcons’ technical setup as the federation moves to rebuild the team ahead of future international assignments.
