BREAKING: Adeleke Defeats APC’s Oyebamiji with 19 LGAs to Retain Government House

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced Governor Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Adeleke, who ran on the platform of the Accord Party, secured a second term after defeating APC’s Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

According to results announced by the State Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, Vice Chancellor of Federal University Oye Ekiti, Adeleke carried 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas. Oyebamiji won in the remaining 11.

Final figures showed Adeleke polling 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji garnered 444,815 votes. ADC’s Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam finished third with 17,180 votes.

The election was conducted across Osun’s 3,763 polling units and was largely seen as a two-horse race between Adeleke and Oyebamiji, with both candidates dominating different regions during collation.
