Lagos Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Sexual Assault of 13-Year-Old Stepdaughter
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man identified simply as Michael for allegedly sexually assaulting his 13-year-old stepdaughter in the Agege area of the state.
The suspect was arrested alongside another man whom the police described as the teenager’s “boyfriend,” following a report lodged by the girl’s biological father.
According to sources familiar with the incident, the teenager had allegedly been running away from home before eventually returning to her biological father, where she reportedly disclosed that she had been sexually abused by her stepfather.
The father subsequently reported the allegation at a police station in Ketu, leading to the arrest of the stepfather on Sunday.
Confirming the development on Monday, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said both suspects had been detained while the victim was taken for medical examination.
“The case was reported yesterday evening. Both the stepfather and the boyfriend were arrested and detained while the victim was taken to Mirabel Centre for medical examination and will be transferred to Gender Ikeja tomorrow for further investigation,” Adebisi said.
The police are expected to transfer the case to the Gender Unit in Ikeja for further investigation.
The incident comes months after the command arrested another 38-year-old man, Samuel Alfred, and his friend, Ikechukwu Obi, in February 2025 over the alleged defilement of a 14-year-old girl in Okokomaiko.
In that case, the teenager’s mother had reportedly alerted the police after discovering that her daughter was about nine months pregnant and allegedly learned that her stepfather was responsible.
