Hon. Reuben Izeze, the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), has been remanded into prison custody by the police over allegations linked to a violent incident at the Delta Central APC stakeholders’ gathering held at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun.

The commissioner appeared before a State High Court on Monday and was subsequently remanded for 14 days at the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Okere, Effurun, pending further investigation.

His detention follows reports of an alleged assault involving Mr. Simon Mudi, a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Protocol, popularly known as Temple.

While official charges have yet to be disclosed, footage circulating online shows Izeze being escorted into a police vehicle after his court appearance, before being taken away from the court premises.

The incident comes amidst claims by Izeze that Uvwie Local Government Chairman, Chief Tony Ofoni, was responsible for an attack during the same gathering, which descended into chaos.

The Delta State Government promptly condemned the violence and ordered security agencies to identify and apprehend those involved.
