Ondo Father Arrested Over Alleged Hot Iron Assault on 10-Year-Old Daughter
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested Amos Paul, a resident of Unaun, Upenme in Owo Local Government Area, for allegedly burning his 10-year-old daughter’s private part with a hot pressing iron as punishment for bedwetting.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who confirmed the incident, said the victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, where she is currently receiving treatment.
According to him, the incident was reported to the police on Thursday and that the victim sustained severe injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital where she is currently receiving medical treatment.
He noted that detectives from ‘A’ Division, Owo acted fast after getting the information. They went to the scene, arrested the suspect, and took him into custody.
”The matter has been transferred to the Gender Unit for quiet investigation and further steps as required,” he said.
Reacting to the incident, CP Felix Ohagwu, said the act is cruel, inhumane and unacceptable.
He further said the command will continue to protect children and vulnerable people, and asked the public to report cases of child abuse, domestic violence and other related crimes to police stations promptly.
