‎The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has launched Operation Kosaye (“No Chance”) across Lagos and Ogun states in a renewed offensive against kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes.

‎The security operation, backed by the Lagos and Ogun State governments through the provision of logistics, is designed to flush out criminal elements from forests, border communities, hideouts and other flashpoints used by kidnappers and armed gangs.

‎Speaking at the Ogun State Police Training School, the Commissioners of Police for Ogun and Lagos states, Bode Ojajuni and Tijani Fatai, said the operation has already recorded significant breakthroughs.

‎According to Disu, operatives rescued five kidnap victims abducted along the Ijebu Ode-Sagamu-Benin Expressway on June 25. They added that five suspected kidnappers were neutralised during the operation, while four others were arrested.

‎The commissioners further disclosed that security personnel have combed and cleared identified forests and bushes across Lagos and Ogun states, including border areas adjoining Oyo and Ondo states, to dismantle criminal camps and deny armed groups safe havens.

‎They also stated that no resident is currently being held captive by kidnappers within the operational areas, adding that several criminal hideouts and illegal shanties have been demolished as part of the ongoing security sweep.

‎The police urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence, particularly by reporting individuals with gunshot wounds or suspicious movements to the nearest police station.

NTANetwork report that the ‎IGP further said Operation Kosaye will be sustained to strengthen security, protect lives and property, and prevent criminal groups from re-establishing bases in the affected areas.
