Why LPPC Stripped Mike Ozekhome of SAN Rank Amid Disciplinary Probe

The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has temporarily stripped high-profile lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome, of his Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) title.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports the regulatory body’s decision was made public on Wednesday in a statement released by Kabir Akanbi, the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court.

The disciplinary action was finalized during the LPPC’s 173rd general meeting held on June 23.

The LPPC, which oversees the elite tier of the Nigerian bar, clarified that the suspension is an administrative measure rather than a permanent revocation.

The move is tied directly to active disciplinary proceedings against Ozekhome.

He will remain barred from using the prestigious rank until internal investigations are concluded and a final verdict is reached.

Howecer, the committee has not yet disclosed the specific misconduct or allegations that prompted the disciplinary action.
