IGP Orders Massive Security Reinforcement in Plateau After Bokkos Massacre
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the deployment of additional police personnel and operational assets to Plateau State, particularly in Bokkos Local Government Area, following the deadly attack on Kawel community that left about 22 people dead.
Speaking with journalists at the Police Headquarters in Jos, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 4, Morris Dankwanbo, said the directive was issued after a security assessment of the affected community.
Dankwanbo stated that security agencies have intensified efforts to identify, apprehend and prosecute those behind the attack, assuring residents that every necessary step is being taken to restore peace and prevent further violence.
He urged members of the community to remain calm, law-abiding and refrain from taking the law into their own hands, stressing that security operatives have strengthened their presence in the area to protect lives and property.
AIT report that the police force reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and bringing the perpetrators of the attack to justice.
