Woman Steals Two Babies to Cover Loss of Twins Before Church Dedication in Delta

A middle-aged woman in Delta state reportedly stole two infants from different mothers with the aim of dedicating them at a church service, attempting to conceal the death of her own twin babies.
The suspect, who was later apprehended by Delta State Police operatives, admitted to investigators that her actions were driven by shame.
She claimed that her husband had already informed the church of their planned child dedication and thanksgiving church service.
However, her own twins had tragically died a few days prior, a secret she kept from her spouse.
Desperate to maintain the appearance of a complete family, she sought to replace her lost children with two other infants.
According to police spokesperson Bright Edafe, the woman, identified as Joy, manipulated circumstances to steal the infants.
She reportedly approached a woman selling groundnuts and, while others searched for the nuts, she distracted a young girl holding a baby and absconded with a four-month-old child.
This was not her first attempt; she had previously stolen another baby about two weeks earlier.
Edafe explained that Joy had established a relationship with an 18-year-old mother and, under the pretense of helping her carry her child, lured the infant away.
“It’s unimaginable how a mother can trust a stranger with her child,” Edafe remarked.
Edafe recounted in a video he shared with journalists; “I remember one time the command did a video about how parents should be watchful and mindful of their children. The Police cannot be everywhere at the same time whether we accept that as a reality or not.
“About three days ago, we had a very disturbing report about a woman who came in and said she wanted to buy groundnuts. While they were looking for the groundnuts for her, she somehow misled the 14-year-old who was holding a baby and she went away with a four-month-old baby.
“Prior to the abduction of this child, she had done it a week ago or two weeks ago thereabout. She went to a roadside person that sells tickets and told her that she’s asking about house help. She established a relationship with the 18-year-old girl that had a child. Then one day she said, ‘Let me help you carry this baby and buy sweets from there.’ She ran away.
“Tell me how a mother would give her child to a stranger to carry a three-month-old child. She was trying to manufacture twins in her own way. She kept them in her house in Uzere”, Edafe added.
Joy confessed that her actions stemmed from her grief over the loss of her own twins, which she claimed died after being bathed with cold water.
She revealed that she had stolen one infant three weeks prior and another just days before the church event, which was scheduled for the Sunday.
Hear her: “I got pregnant and had twin children. When they were one month and two weeks old, I left them to go to the market. Before I came back, they had used cold water to bathe the twins and they both died.
“My husband had already invited people for child dedication, so I decided to steal two children, a boy and a girl.
“I stole the first baby three weeks ago and later stole the other one on Saturday because the dedication was on Sunday”, she stated.
Housewife steal two babies for church dedication to replace her dead babies
Wonders shall never end as a middle-aged woman in Delta State reportedly stole two babies from different mothers with the intention to dedicate them in church to hide the shame of losing her own twin babies.
The woman who was arrested by operatives of the Delta state Police Command told investigators that she carried out the heinous act to cover shame as the husband had already informed the church that they were coming for child dedication/Thanksgiving service in a few days time.
According to her, her babies died a few days before the church thanksgiving but she kept it secret from her husband and decided to go find new baby children in replacement of her own.
Narrating the incident, the State Police command’s Spokesperson, Bright Edafe, a Superintendent of Police (SP) in a video shared with journalists on Wednesday, said, “I remember one time the command did a video about how parents should be watchful and mindful of their children. The Police cannot be everywhere at the same time whether we accept that as a reality or not.
