The Ondo State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against financial and property-related crimes with the arrest of six suspects linked to the alleged fraudulent sale and illegal transfer of three heavy-duty vehicles valued at over ₦71 million.

‎The suspects Adeola Kolawole, 56, Alhaji Gani Bello, 73, Oladoja Akeem, 56, Wasiu Adigun, 55, Azeez Yusuf, 49, and Ojo Mudasiru, 40 were apprehended in Ibadan, Oyo State, following an intelligence-led investigation conducted by operatives of the Fagun Division.

‎According to the Police, the case was reported on May 22, 2026, by Mr. Paul Aderemi of Ayegunle Street, Ondo.

‎ Preliminary findings revealed that the complainant had purchased a low-loader truck, a tipper truck, and a small truck in May 2025 for about ₦71 million and entrusted them to the custody of the principal suspect, Adeola Kolawole, under a mutual agreement.

‎However, trouble began when Aderemi reportedly discovered on May 13, 2026, that the vehicles had allegedly been sold without his knowledge or authorization. He subsequently lodged a complaint with the Police.

‎Meanwhile, acting swiftly, detectives launched a comprehensive investigation that led to the arrest of Kolawole. During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to selling the vehicles to Alhaji Gani Bello in Ibadan, providing investigators with critical leads that resulted in the arrest of the remaining suspects believed to have participated in the transaction.

‎Police authorities disclosed that efforts are ongoing to recover the three vehicles and uncover the full extent of the alleged criminal network. The six suspects have reportedly made confessional statements detailing their individual roles in the transaction and are expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

‎The Command described the operation as a demonstration of the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing, interstate collaboration, and coordinated law enforcement efforts in tracking criminal suspects across state boundaries.

‎Commending the officers involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, praised their professionalism, dedication, and prompt response, which led to the successful arrests.

‎The Commissioner also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for his continued support and strategic leadership in strengthening policing capacity nationwide.

‎Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, CP Ohagwu warned criminal elements that no matter where they flee, the law will eventually catch up with them.

“He further urged residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid crime-fighting efforts across the state.”

‎The arrests mark another major milestone in the Ondo State Police Command’s ongoing campaign against fraud and other criminal activities.
