Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has met with the 11 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel who were detained in Burkina Faso after their aircraft made an emergency landing.

The personnel were released by Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré, following diplomatic efforts led by Tuggar.

The aircraft, a C-130, had landed in Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, due to technical issues while on a ferry mission to Portugal.

The crew was detained amid suspicions of espionage, but Burkina Faso’s authorities later clarified that the landing was in accordance with international aviation protocols.
