Delta Council Boss Congratulates Isoko South Team for Winning ‘UNR’ Trophy

Isoko South council chairman, Friday Ovoke Warri flanked by the committee chairman of the Umeh Need Road (UNR) Isoko Unity Cup football competition, Evans Egbo, on Tuesday.





The chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Friday Ovoke Warri has congratulated the Isoko South female and male teams for winning the trophy of the Isoko Unity Cup football competition, organized by Isoko popular facebook group, “Umeh Need Road (UNR)”.

The Isoko Umeh Need Road (UNR) unity cup competition is a prestigious annual football tournament designed to bring together and foster unity among the Isoko people through exceptional entertainment.

The grand finale pf the competition took place on last Sunday at the Igbide Secondary School field, and was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, (SSG), Kingsley Emu, chairman, Delta State Sports Commission, Onoriode Oborevwori, Land and Survey commissioner, Goodnews Emamusi Obiodeh, government functionaries, traditional rulers from Isoko extraction, captains of industries, politicians among others.

Warri congratulated the team,on Tuesday while receiving the triumphant Isoko South female and male teams in his office in Oleh, the administrative headquarters of the council.

He reaffirmed Isoko South’s unwavering commitment to sustaining its path of success in the annual football event and extended congratulations to both teams for their remarkable victory.

The elated council chairman who expressed gratitude to the teams and the entire committees for organizing such a successful event, noted that “This is a historic achievement for our local government, with both categories secured under my tenure as council chairman. I am delighted that our male and female teams emerged victorious, and we aim to sustain this winning streak.

“Ultimately, this occasion serves as a platform where many of us are encountering one another for the first time. Our counterparts from Isoko North also performed commendably. Nonetheless, in any competition, there must be a victor, and fortunately, we emerged triumphant.” Warri stated.

Earlier, committee chairman of the Umeh Need Road (UNR) Isoko Unity Cup football competition, Evans Egbo, expressed gratitude to the Isoko South council chairman, Friday Ovoke Warri for the warm welcome and acknowledged his active participation and that of everyone involved in the competition.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of both trophies to the council chairman for safekeeping.
