President Tinubu Summons Service Chiefs, Orders Withdrawal of Police Escorts from VIPs

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Sunday, summoned all service Chiefs to the presidential Villa where he held close door meeting with them on Nigeria’s worsen security challenges.

At the meeting the president reportedly ordered the immediate withdrawal of police officers attached to Very Important Personalities (VIPs), a statement by Bayo Onanuga, presidents special adviser on Information and Strategy, said.

The president said that the officers he redeployed to core policing duties in communities.

In a post shared on his verified Facebook account, President Tinubu said;

“I am currently in an extended security meeting with heads of our defence and intelligence apparatus including the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff, Inspector-General of Police, Director-General of the DSS, at the State House.

“We are reviewing the latest reports and taking decisive actions to stabilise the affected areas and protect our citizens. I am receiving continuous briefings and have directed our security services to move with speed, precision, and absolute resolve.

“As President, I am fully committed to the security of all Nigerians. Those who threaten the peace and security of our nation will face the full weight of the law.

“Nigeria will prevail”, he enthused.
