Chief Executive Officer of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, Olasijibomi Ogundele, who was declared wanted over allegations of diversion and money laundering by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has opened up on what transpired between him and Enugu State government.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that Ogundele who became emotional while making a video to tell his story, said that it was a contract that went weary.

He said he is not a fugitive neither is him a fraudster as being portrayed by the anti-graft agency.

Ogundele, said that inflation on prices of cement and other items needed for the projects frustrated the contract.

He also said that he and his staff came under serious attacks by gunmen while embarking on the project around local government areas in Enugu.

His account; “I am not a thief and I am not a fugitive. This is a contract between my company and Enugu State government. Enugu state government asked me to build a couple of projects which was very interesting. I was going to the state every week.

“In the middle of the project the governor said he wanted to build a city and wanted to build the tallest building in Nigeria. 69th storey building. I designed and give it to him and he said keep that aside. He said while we’re waiting please help me do this schools.

“That we have money but we don’t have people who can do.it. I have never done those kind of schools before. I knew it was cement, concrete and machinery and know we can make the arrangement. I said let me give it a try. I told the governor that this project is impossible because of the pricing, the cost was too low to build.

“The governor said don’t worry just help me do the schools. You wouldn’t make money from the schools but you will make money from the other projects which I was happy about. Right there I mobilised 42 engineers to the state. I took a house in the state. I love the state, I went to the state and I was there doing the job. I was travelling from Ezeagwu to different local government and had an accident that my back got broken and I didn’t tell anybody.

“Now the contract got frustrated. When we took the contract I knew at every point that I knew it was difficult to do it because of the pricing. When we took the contract a bag of cement was N7,000 but when we left cement was N10,000. I faced a lot of people. Sometimes we’re in the villages, my staff are being shot at. Sometimes we will have some people come, they bring guns and shoot at them but I was still there.

“At the end of the day things went sour between myself and the government but I was still there. If I had money I would have continued with the project but I have my other projects. I had stressed on my other projects that I wanted to do.

“They took me to court and I said okay let’s look at the entire project, how much have we spent. Till the last day I was in the projects, I was there till the last day. They asked how much have we spent on the project, and we put everything down before the court, I told the courts we don’t want any fight with the government. Let agree how much do we own you and I was in agreement with them. Now they declared me wanted.

“They destroyed the company I built over the years but I am going to go there, I going to EFCC office. I’m going to clear my name. In the last two to three years prices had just gone crazy. I’m doing my projects. I had five years delay. Something that I could have done within two years, price of things changed and there was no way forward”, he added.
