Published

on

The chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta state, Friday Ovoke Warri and his Isoko North counterpart, Godwin Ogorugba have called on the people of Isoko nation to remain united, peaceful and love one another.

The two leaders made the call during a peace parley meeting with President Generals of Isoko communities.

The meeting held at the office of the Isoko South council chairman, Oleh, was tailored to strengthen the unity and love between the two local government areas.

Speaking during the meeting the two council bosses, emphasised the importance of unity and cohesion within the Isoko communities.

According to the two council chairmen, no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of division, hatred and war.

The council chairmen urged community president generals from Isoko South and Isoko North to always promote unity, love and peaceful co-existence in Isoko nation.

They said; “it is only when peace and unity reigns in Isoko nation that governor Sheriff Oborevwori who does not joke with peace will be interested to invest more in Isoko in the area of social amenities”.

The council chairmen thanked and commended the community president generals for their understanding and leadership support, committing to unify the Isoko nation and strengthen grassroots governance.

In their separate remarks at the meeting, the president generals, advocated for the rotational tenure of the Isoko Development Union (IDU) youth wing leadership so as every one will be carried along in the scheme of things.

Specifically, president general of Irri federated union, Adonis Ubuwere hinted that the IDU-Youth wing presidency foundational principle of rotational tenure between the Isoko South and Isoko North is aimed at preventing youth conflicts.

He pointed out that December 25, 2019, the youth wing agreed to alternate three-year tenures between South and North councils.

The meeting however, called on the president general of the Isoko Development Union,(IDU), Prof Chris Akpotu to constitute an electoral committee to conduct free and fair elections for the IDU youth wing on or before December 15, 2024.

They therefore agreed that the presidency of the IDU youth wing should be rotational among the two local government councils.
