‘Not An Easy Battle, But God Saw Me Through’ – Isoko North Council Boss Speaks On Election Victory

Godwin Ogorugba, Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area in Delta State, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for guiding him through challenging times during his election and swearing-in as council chairman.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service at Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) in Ozoro, Ogorugba recounted his journey: “My becoming chairman was not an easy battle. Petitions were written against me, but the church stood by me in fasting and prayers. God showed forth for me when I needed Him most.”

According to Ogorugba, God guided him through a deeply challenging time and expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for guiding him through two terms as Isoko North PDP chairman and his subsequent election and swearing in to chairman of the local government.

He said; “In 2019, as PDP chairman in Isoko North, we won all our elections after entrusting everything to God. Again in 2023, we repeated the success in Isoko North. When I received the revelation of becoming chairman of the council, I prayed. The journey was turbulent, but I trusted God, and His words were fulfilled.

“My becoming chairman of Isoko North council was not an easy battle. Petitions upon petitions were written against me but in all the church stood by me in fasting and prayers. God show forth for me when I needed him most. How many names should I continue to mention.

“Some of my brothers and others who are not here with us in church were solidly with me. And when the battle was going on I told God that I shall return with thanksgiving and truly God did it for me and that’s while I am in church today to thank the God who has done all of these things.” Ogorugba stated.

He dedicated his victory to God, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Isoko leaders and the people of Isoko North.

In a sermon titled “Engaging the Wonder of Praise”, the resident Pastor of Living Faith Church, Winners Chapel,Ozoro, Pastor Raphael Asotie, emphasized the need and importance of giving thanks to God.

Reading from the scriptures of Psalm 150:6 and Habakkuk 3:17-19, the cleric noted that praising God brings direction and completion to the good work God has begun in one’s life.
