NNPCL’s CEO Mele Kyari Speaks On Daughter’s Death, Finds Solace On How She United, Touched Lives

Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has spoken out about the recent loss of his 25-year-old daughter, Fatima, who passed away on October 12, 2024.

In a heartfelt statement on his verified X account, Kyari described his daughter’s death as a profound loss, but noted that her passing happened at her appointed time.

“My daughter Fatima departed at her appointed time and looking forward to meeting her in Jannah by Allah’s grace,” Kyari wrote.

“While the loss is great by all measures, we remain grateful to God for all his mercies”, he added

Kyari acknowledged the emotional impact Fatima had on those around her, despite her physical challenges.

“I didn’t know the depth of her connections with many people and what she meant to many,” he said.

“Despite her physical challenges, she was able to touch hearts in very soothing ways, including me.”

The NNPCL CEO also highlighted how the tragedy united people from diverse social backgrounds, demonstrating the power of empathy and care.

“Her demise brought many people together and demonstrated that we all can care for others irrespective of our social circumstances,” he noted.

Kyari expressed his deep appreciation to leaders, family members, friends, colleagues, teachers, and well-wishers who prayed for the repose of Fatima’s soul and offered comfort to his family following the loss.
