Sanwo-Olu Condemns ‘#IgboMustGo’ Threat, Vows To Protect Igbo, Other Ethnic Groups In Lagos
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has denounced a social media post calling for the Igbo to leave Lagos and the Southwest region of Nigeria.
The post on X, (former Twitter) which threatened a “#IgboMustGo” protest from August 20-30, 2024, was described as “reckless, divisive, and dangerous” by the Governor.
“Lagos remains home to every Nigerian citizen, regardless of their ethnic nationality,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.
“We will not allow anyone to sow seeds of discord among our people.”, the governor added in a statement by Gboyega Akosile, his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity.
The Governor appealled to Lagosians to ignore the post and any similar messages, promising to work towards ensuring lasting peace in the state.
He also called on security agencies to investigate those behind the social media handle and bring them to justice.
