DSS Detains Bawa As Abdulkarim Chukkol Takes Over As Acting EFCC Chairman

The Director of Operations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulkarim Chukkol, has taken over the affiars of the commission following the suspension of its chairman, AbdulRasheed Bawa.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (www.bigpenngr.com) had reported Wednesday night that President Bola Tinubu order indefinite suspension of Bawa over weighty allegations of abuse of office.

The suspension, according to a statement, by the office of the SGF, is to allow for a proper investigation into his conduct while in office following some weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him by some stakeholders in the anti-corruption fight.

Following his suspension, Bawa was directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the agency’s Director of Operations, Abdulkarim Chukkol, who will oversee the affairs of the office of the EFCC Chairman.

Bawa, who was immediately invited by the DSS after his suspension is still in the custody of the agency as at time of filling this report.
