The Paramount Ruler of Great Idjerhe Kingdom in Delta State, HRM King Obukohwo Monday Whiskey JP, Udurhie I, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his inauguration as President, tasking him to pay keen attention to issues of the Niger Delta Region.

This was contained in a statement personally signed by the Ovie of Great Idjerhe Kingdom and made available to news men.

“I want to call on Mr. President to ensure that the Niger Delta region is very critical to the national survival and therefore special attention should be paid to it’s needs.

“The goose that lays the golden egg must not be ignored. The issues that have plagued the region are still very prevalent and we are worried.

I thank the Federal Government for constituting the Lauretta Onochie led Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission and passing it’s budget. I want special attention to be paid to it’s activities to avoid bad past experience

“Your Excellency, peace and security are pillars upon which a country can survive and traditional rulers have enormous role in this respect, I therefore urge you to give a constitutional roles to traditional rulers who are at the grassroots.

The new President as true democrat should involve all critical stakeholders in the Niger Delta developmental agenda in particular and Nigeria in general.

Tinubu has the political pedigree of operating in very difficult terrain and I am confident that he will use his political sagacity to hit the ground running and ensure that there is equity, fairness and justice in delivering his democratic deliverables to the Nigerian Nation and her people.
