Group Disowns Individuals Taking Credit For ‘Obedient’ Group’s Support For Oborevwori
The group, ‘Obedient’ Movement Isoko Chapter, has disowned individuals taking credit for the group’s support for Delta State Governor-elect, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori during the 2023 Delta State governorship election in the state.
The group, in a statement signed by the group’s Coordinator Isoko North, Fred Elohor Anthonia and Okawa Leslie Okezi, Isoko South, said that the only person who should take credit for their support, campaigns and election of Oborevwori, is the Managing Director of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Askia Ogieh.
The group alleged that some ‘faceless persons’ had claimed that they were the ‘reason’ the Obedient Group, Isoko Chapter campaigned, supported, and worked to ensure the victory of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori at the 2023 Delta State governorship election.
Debunking the claims, the group said that the purveyors of the disinformation are on a desperate mission to misinform and mislead the public and curry unmerited favour with the incoming governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
“We, the Isoko Chapter of Obedient Group are mindful of the tendency of dubious fellows to reap where they did not sow in the coming political dispensation, but in order to put the record straight and address these obvious false claims, we equivocally state as follows:
“That the Obedient Movement is a non-partisan entity solidly guided by modest ideologies that promote good governance in its entirety.
“In other words, we shop for credible personalities around the Nigerian political space and support them to victory in elections so as to engender socioeconomic development of the people.
“On that note, the Obedient Movement in Isoko nation worked for Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori on the grounds that Hon. Askia Ogieh made firm commitments to us that the former would prioritize good governance and foster economic prosperity of the people of Delta State.
“And on a stricter note, Hon. Askia Ogieh would be held responsible if good governance, economic prosperity and development of Delta State are jettisoned.
The group contended that based on the firm commitments by Hon. Askia Ogieh, he is known generally as the ”Face and Name’ behind the Obedient movement, maintaining that he would be held personally accountable “if our expectations of good governance and socio-economic progress of Delta State are not met”.
They, however, congratulated the PDP governorship candidate for the resounding victory in the March 18 governorship election.
