Oko Landing Bay Attracted By Elumelu As Constituency Project To Be Inaugurated Soon
The Oko Landing Bay, one of the constituency projects attracted by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, for the residents of Oko community in Oshimili South local government area, Delta State, has been completed.
The project, which was built and outfitted by Gorrion Engineering, a reputable marine engineering firm with headquarters in Port Harcourt, took three months to complete according to plan.
The project is in line with the Minority Leader’s pledge to support Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the State Governor, in his efforts to open up the riverine communities in Oshimili South Local Government Area through an effective and convenient water transportation system.
The Landing Bay is a 26-point landing jetty with eight brand-new 22-seater boats to shuttle between Oko and Asaba.
The Delta State Governor and PDP Vice-Presidential Candidate for the 2023 Presidential Election, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, will soon officially inaugurate the project, according to Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, the minority leader and member of the House of Representatives who also represents the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal constituency.
Elumelu felt bad for the residents of Oko and other communities in Oshimili South, Oshimili North, Aniocha South, and Aniocha North because of the flooding caused by the heavy rains that the weather forecasters said would happen, which submerged some of the communities in the four local government areas.
Rt. Hon. Elumelu consoled families who lost loved ones as a result of the disaster while assuring that efforts are being made to mitigate the effects of the flooding on the populace.
He applauded the Delta State Government for its efforts to ensure that the effects of the natural disaster did not worsen than they already were, noting that the Government’s proactive action through public education helped significantly to improve the situation.
