Aniocha North Legislative Arm Condemns, Recounts How 2 Disgruntled Individuals Made Viral Video To Bring Elumelu’s Reputation Into Disrepute

The Legislative Arm of the Aniocha North Local Government in Delta State has denounced a viral video that claimed the Onich-Uku/Idumu-Ogo link road was closed off to Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu due to the poor condition of the road project.

At Tuesday’s plenary, a motion was made by the councillor for ward 1, Onicha-Uku, Hon. Chinyere Nkabu, and seconded by the councillor for ward 3, Obomkpa, Hon. Queen Ndubukwu, condemning the video footage and blaming two disgruntled individuals from Idumu-Ogo for misleading the public and bringing Elumelu’s reputation into disrepute.

Explaining what happened on that specific date, the lawmakers revealed that Ebele Sedenu and Chiedu Adigwu created the video and posted it online on purpose to mislead the public and cause unwarranted embarrassment to Elumelu.

The House noted that the residents of Idumu-Ogo, where Hon. Paul Chukwuwike Okonkwo, the head of the legislative branch, is from, have nothing against Rt. Hon. Elumelu and that the community’s youth have no reason to harass, humiliate, or obstruct him from assessing the Onich-Uku/Idumu-Ogo link road.

They added that, in addition to receiving other benefits from the Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu’s numerous empowerment initiatives, the people of Idumu-Ogo are extremely appreciative of him for building the Onich-Uku Idumu-Ogo link road and for simultaneously constructing an ultramodern community hall for them through the leadership of their traditional ruler and youth leader, Akwudiunor Chigozia.

The legislative arm noted that, according to interrogations and investigations, the youth of Idumu-Ogo were on a routine watch to stop vehicle movements, particularly heavy-duty vehicles, on the ongoing Onich-Uku/Idumu-Ogo road project when the Minority Leader’s convoy approached from the Onich-Uku axis. The youth, not realising immediately that it was the minority leader, stopped the convoy and some other vehicles. When they were trying to figure out who he was, Adigwe noticed the convoy and immediately started filming it, giving the false impression that the youth were preventing the minority leader from accessing the road.

They also mentioned that, prior to the video going viral, Ebele Sedenu copied the video that Adigwe had posted on the Community WhatsApp platform and pasted it on her Facebook wall.

In light of the embarrassment the viral video must have caused the Minority Leader, the House apologised on behalf of the residents of Aniocha North Local Government Area, particularly the residents of Idumu-Ogo, while also calling for punitive action against Ebele Sedenu, a PDP member in the ward and Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Women Development.
