Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the State Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state, have settled for the Chairman of the state Board of Internal Revenue, Monday Onyeme, as the running mate of the governorship candidate of the party and incumbent Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Sheriff Francis Oborevwori.

www.bigpenngr.com reports that the party zeroed it search for running mate on Onyeme who said to be among one of those who heavily bankrolled the candidacy of Oborevwori.

It was gathered that Oborevwori and the party leadership led by Olorogun Kingsley Esiso rooted for Onyeme against three others who were penciled down for the plum job.

Sources privy to the development said that the party had zoned the position to Ndokwa area of Delta North senatorial district following sharing of political offices to address issues of alleged marginalisation and imbalance in the political equation in the state.

Among those who were jostling for the position was a business mogul, Godswill Obielum; current deputy speaker of the state House of Assembly, Christopher Ochor; Commissioner for Finance, Fidelis Tilije; and chairman of the state board of internal revenue, Monday Onyeme.

It was learnt that Onyeme, after a rigorous meeting that was held on Tuesday, top the list of contenders as Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who is also the Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP for the 2023 general elections, seemed to be alone with Ochor’s candidacy when the cards were put on the table between Ochor, Tilijie, Obielum and Onyeme.
www.bigpenngr.com gathers that Esiso backed Onyeme against the deputy Speaker even as the governorship candidate, Oborevwori also picked Onyeme when prompted to name his choice among the contenders.
