JUST IN: It’s A Gas Cylinder Explosion, Not A Bomb Attack – Kano Police Commissioner Reacts

The Kano State Commissioner of Police CP Sama’ila Dikko, has reacted to report of explosion in the state, saying ‘It wasn’t a bomb blast but it’s a gas cylinder explosion’.

He said that a gas cylinder exploded from a seller’s shop located on the ground floor of the building where the school is located.

“So, when the cylinder exploded, it brought down the building and the pupils got injured. There wasn’t a bomb blast”, he said.

Multiple reports say a bomb blast rocked Sabongari area of the state, leaving at least three residents dead and many currently trapped in the explosion site.

Some newspapers had reported that the explosive device went off in the early hours of the day when a suspected a suicide bomber struck in the area.

Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have since been deployed to the scene and have evacuated shattered body parts of a man suspected to be a suicide bomber.

According to reports, a welder in front of Winners Schools, Kano, which is adjacent the scene, is reported to be among the casualties.
