Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has formally declared his ambition to contest for the governorship seat in Delta State.

BIGPENNGR.COM reports that Omo-Agege made his intention known during an enlarged All Progressive Congress, (APC), declaration rally held at Federal University of Petroleum Technology, (Fupre), Ugbomro, Uvwie Council Area of the state.

Before his arrival at the venue of the rally which was jammed with various party’s faithful, support groups, as well as aspirants and their supporters the deputy senate president and his entourage comprises of APC NEC members including South South Zonal chairman, Chief Victor Giadom as well as deputy governors of Kogi and Imo states, paid homage to Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel Sideso where he received royal blessing for his governorship aspiration.

Declaring his intention to contest the governorship, Omo-Agege said that the patience exhibited by the party’s faithful while awaiting his arrival, was testament that they were ready to ensure APC takes over the Government House Asaba comes 2023.

He assured the people that his developmental strides in nearly every local government and communities in Delta Central would be wholly replicated to the general interest of the state.

He said; “I thank all members of the APC national working committee and everyone present. This is a testament that we are tired of the People’s Democratic Party PDP and we are ready to Chase away PDP from Asaba. You sent me to the Senate in 2015 and I represented you well. In 2019 you supported me back to the Senate and I emerged the Deputy Senate President. I thank Mr. President Muhammadu Buhari for standing by us to be number two in the Nigeria Senate.

“First I am here to report back to you that I have fulfilled all the promises I made to you during my electioneering campaigns. Today every communities Urhobo Land has solar power street lights, Additional Transformers, renovation of primary and secondary schools, additional health centers and a brand new Federal Polytechnic at Orogun, defence state school and Nigeria Law School Campus in Delta State. We are also about to get a new Federal University of Agriculture in Aboh and many more. This is what I have done for my people.

“I therefore want to bring same to Delta North and Delta South. We will not allow Okowa to continue to marginalize us. Okowa has continued to marginalize the Ndokws nation. Oshimili North and south, nothing to show. Youths left the university for over 10years without job. Okowa wants you to drive Keke while his people are using the best flashy cars. It is on this ground  that we say enough is enough for PDP”.

‘Hence I want to leave my comfort zone which is Delta Central Senatorial District to develop the entire Delta state.
‘Today, I am offering myself to serve the entire state’, because according to him, several part of the state are grossly marginalised and underdeveloped by the Governor Okowa-led PDP government, he said.

Former General Secretary of the Nigeria’ Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, and elder statesman, Chief Frank Kokori, said that it was time to liberate Delta from the shackles of PDP maladministration, saying that Delta would be liberated with Omo-Agege in the saddle as governor comes 2023.

Speaking, founding leader of Delta APC and 2015 governorship candidate of the party, Olorogun Ortega Emerhor, said that Delta is ready to be rescued by Ovie Omo-Agege.

He lamented that since 1999 Delta State has been suffering from the PDP misrule noting that God has brought Ovie Omo-Agege to rescue Deltans from the suffering.

‘Your suffering has ended because God has brought someone for us in the person of Omo-Agege’, Emerhor said.

Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja urged Deltans to vote Omo-Agege massively comes 2023, saying no one is more qualified than Senator Omo-Agege.

Imo state Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma who was represented by the deputy governor, Prof. Placid Njoku, spoke of his relationship with Omo-Agege, urging Deltans to rally around the deputy senate president for the emancipation of the state. ‘I want to congratulate all of you for believing in Omo-Agege.
