Woman, 35 Remanded In Prison Custody For Defiling 12-year-old Niece With Stick

A Magistrate Court II, sitting in Isiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, has remanded in prison custody a 35-year-old woman who assaulted her niece for allegedly ‘stealing’ her garri and fish by inserting a stick in her genitals.

BIGPENNGR reports that the woman, Mercy Oba, who is an aunt to the teenager, was arraigned on Monday and was sent to the Sapele Correctional facility in the state till March 30, for continuation of her case.

Oba had last Thursday, March 17 at Ikumeje-Okpara Inland in Ethiope East council area of the state, inserted a stick in the genitals of 12-year old Igho Osegbe after she accused her of “stealing” her garri and fish.

In her charge sheet, Oba is facing a four-count charge of assault, infliction of body harm on the child and her visually impaired mother, as well as destruction of their properties worth N200,000.

Parts of the charge reads: “That you Mercy Oba ‘f’ on the 17th day of March, 2022 at Ikumeje village, Okpara Inland within Isiokolo Magistrate District did assaulted one Igho Osegbe ‘f’ by beating her and thereby committed an offence punishable under section351 of the Criminal Code cap C21 Vol. 1 Laws of Delta state of Nigeria 2006.

“That you Mercy Oba ‘f’ on said date and at the aforementioned magistrate district did cause grievous harm to one Igho Osegbe ‘f’ by robbing pepper all over her body and inserting stick into her vagina and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 335 of the criminal code, cap 21 Vol 1…

“That you Mercy Oba f on the 17th day of March 2022 did assaulted one Odiri Oba ‘f’ by beating and hitting her on the ground and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 351 of the criminal code, cap 21, vol 1…

“That you Mercy Oba did willfully and unlawfully damaged or destroyed bed, stove, plates and other household items valued N200,000 properties of one Odiri Oba and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 451 of the criminal code 21 vol 1…”
