Chief Of Army Chief: Buhari Appoints Gen Farouk As Late Attahiru’s Successor

President Mohammadu Buhari has appointed Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff.

Acting Army Director of Information, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

Prior to his appointment Major General Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counter terrorism Counter Insurgency military outfit in the North East code named Operation HADIN KAI.

BIGPENNGR had reported that Yahaya was among the top contenders earlier published by this medium as likely successor of former Chief of army staff who died few days ago in a plane crash.
