Bullion Van Robbed In Delta As Heavily Armed Bandits Attack Policemen On UBA Escort Duty

Heavily armed bandits have reportedly robbed a bullion van in Delta State after engaging policemen escorting it in a gun duel.

BIGPENNGR.COM understands the bandits waylaid the bullion van and policemen who were on United Bank of Africa (UBA) special escort duty from Agbor to Asaba.

The incident happened on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at about 14:20hrs at Utulu/Ubulu-Okiti along Benin – Asaba expressway.

Acting State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Edafe Bright confirmed the incident on Thursday.

According to him, in the ensued gun duel, three (3) policemen were injured and were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Asaba.

He disclosed that one of the policeman with force number AP/No. 199518 identified as Inspector Ogar Sunday was certified dead by the doctor on duty while the remaining two were treated and discharged.

“Two of the bandits were fatally injured but were taken away by their gang members.

“Unspecified amount of money was reportedly carted away.

“However, the incident is under investigation to unravel those behind the dastardly act and to ascertain the amount that was carted away.

is ongoing to bring them to justice”, the police spokesman said.
