JUST IN: Ijaw Youths Besiege Agip Office In Port Harcourt Over GMoU Squabbles

Hundreds of youths drawn from Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), have laid siege to the Port Harcourt office of Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC).

BIGPEN understands the youths are protesting what they called alleged “victimization and non-adoption of the extant Nigeria Local Content clauses in its host communities”.

 

The Italian controlled oil prospector have been having a running battle with host communities over failure to enter into a Global Memoranda of Understanding (GMoU) with host communities.

The protesters are accusing NAOC of being insensitive to the people of the host communities.

The protesters, specifically called for the head of Calista Agozu, the head of human relations of NAOC.
