Security: I Won’t ‘Go Into The Gutters’ With My Detractors – Makinde
Seyi Makinde, Oyo State Governor, has vowed never to ‘go into the gutters’ with his critics and detractors.
BIGPEN reports that the governor spoke in reaction to seething attack by some elements who are criticizing his administration over issue of insecurity in the state.
The governor, who said this during a recent interview with newsmen at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, added that instead of trading words with critics, he would ignore them to their criticism.
He said he remains unperturbed because of the love the people of the state have for him, stating that they are appreciative of the measures which his administration is taking to make the state safe and secure.
He said: “So, I have chosen not to stay in the gutters with those folks trying to distract us. I will leave them to whatever it is they are doing.”

Similarly, the governor boasts of having street credibility and can even work freely anywhere in the state, a quality, which he said those criticizing him lack.
“I am glad that we do have street credibility. If they think we don’t, I will volunteer to walk on the street of Oje with any of them and we will see who has the credibility. So, the people are appreciative of what we are doing and they know precisely what is going on.”
Concluding, the Governor said he will continue to serve the majority of the people who elected him into office but not the microscopic few critics who are majorly interested in selfish gains.
“If a majority of the people elected us to be in this office, we are supposed to serve the majority of our population and that is exactly what we are going to do and what we are going to keep doing,” Makinde Stated.
