BREAKING: Hoodlums Burgle Assembly Complex Near Govt House In Ogun, Cart Away Mace
Despite the tighten security around government offices and residential quarters, the wave of attack on such facilities have increased as suspected hoodlums, reportedly early Thursday morning burgled Ogun State House of Assembly Complex, carting away with the mace.
BIGPENGR.COM reports that the suspected hoodlums ostensibly defied the security architecture and invaded the assembly complex which is a stone throw from the Government House.
Sources said that the invaders broke into the office of the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, overnight and stole the official symbol of the legislature.
According to report, this is the second time the hoodlums would bulged the assembly complex in the last three weeks.
Efforts by journalists who visited the assembly located a metres away from the Governor’s Office, in the precinct of the State Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, to take photograph of the scene were rebuffed by some security agents who said they got “order from above” to stop journalists from accessing the complex.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun had earlier on Thursday visited the assembly for on the spot assessment.
The Spokesman of the Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the incident, said that the head of the mace has been recovered, while investigation into the bulgary and theft has commenced.
BIGPENNGR.COM had reported a similar incident occurred on Wednesday night at the Akwa Ibom Government House which was invaded by yet-to-identified gunmen who reportedly stole an undisclosed amount of money, running into millions of naira.
