BREAKING: Gov Okowa, Wife Contract COVID-19 Six Days After Daughter Tested Positive
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, on Wednesday, says he, alongside his wife, Dame Edith, have tested positive to the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.
This comes six days after the governor had announced that he and his wife were going into self isolation after one of his daughters had tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus disease.
BIGPEN understands the governor’s daughter was among the 106 COVID-19 cases confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for the State last week Thursday, June 25.
Confirming the development, Governor Okowa had said himself and his family, in-line with the laid out COVID-19 procedures, are going into isolation for the next 14-days.
However, on Wednesday, July 1, the governor said he has contracted the virus alongside his wife.
“My wife and I have tested positive for COVID-19. We are well and continuing with our isolation/medication. We thank you all for your continued prayers for us and our daughter, the governor tweeted
Okowa joined the league of Governors who earlier announced their status a day after Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, confirmed he was positive for COVID-19.
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna states had earlier tested positive to the virus and subsequently treated and discharged.
Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu is still battling COVID-19 at an Abuja hospital.
