The police commissioner in Ondo state, Bolaji Salamiat, reportedly on Saturday night held the state deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi hostage for four hours at the Government House following plans by the latter to defect from the APC to the PDP.

The CP had blocked Ajayi car and his pilot vehicle from leaving the government house.

The police boss, Salamiat claimed he was acting on the order of the governor.

BIGPEN understands Ajayi had been in a running battle with his boss, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu over mounting opposition against Akeredolu second term ambition.

The governorship election in Ondo State has been scheduled for November 26, 2020 by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The battle between the governor and his deputy heightened after moves by Ajayi to defect next week.

In a video of the drama at the Government House which emerged in the wee hours of Sunday, CP Salami told Ajayi that he was not going to be allowed to leave the Government House based on his concluded plan to defect from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.

According to the police boss, he had already received Ajayi’s letter of his plan to defect to the PDP on Monday (tomorrow).

Ajayi, however, told the CP that apart from the fact that he bought the pilot vehicle with his own money, Salami was not in the right position to dabble into political matters.

He said as the CP, Salami ought to be apolitical.

In the video, Agboola confronted the police commissioner saying “that is what you are doing ( the CP not allowing me to go out ). Are you not a police officer ? If am leaving the state House, what is your concern about it ?

Are you an APC or PDP chairman ?

“Do you know how many hours I have spent here ( at the gate ) ? I don’t understand. I personally paid for this vehicle, not even government.

“That is the reason you shouldn’t have put yourself in this mess because it is totally messed.

“Why would police be used for God’s sake ? My brother, let me tell you, you people can not repeat what happened in 1983 in Ondo state and it is unfortunate that they want to use the police to cause this but Ondo state people will resist you with everything”.
