Delta Accountant General That ‘Disappeared’ At The Tail-end Of Uduaghan’s Tenure Bows Out, As Okowa Appoints Successor

Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State, on Wednesday April 22, 2020 approved the appointment of Mrs. Joy Enwa as the new Accountant-General of the state.

A public announcement signed by the State Director of Information, Dona Obuseh, says the appointment takes effect from April 20, 2020.

According to the statement, Mrs. Joy Enwa until her new appointment was the Director of Accounts in the Accountant General’s Office.

“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public, particularly Deltans, that His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State, has approved the appointment of Mrs Joy Enwa, hitherto Director of Accounts in the Accountant General’s Office, Asaba as the new Accountant-General of Delta State.

“The appointment takes effect from Monday, 20th April, 2020”, the statement read.

The tenure of the erstwhile Accountant General, Cyril Agbele reportedly expired since April 8th 2020.

BIGPEN recalls that Mr. Agbele, was that accountant general that disappeared from office with his two deputies few days to the May 29 2015 handover date of former governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan to his successor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.

Uduaghan, had described his disappearance from office then before his tenure expired as very irresponsible. “It is a conspiracy to grind my administration to a halt and an attempt to set me up on a collision course with the incoming administration. I think it is very irresponsible.”
