‘Alli’s Posthumous Pardon Is Good News’ – Bendel Schools Reunion’s Founder Oloye
Ken Oloye, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bendel School Reunion Worldwide, a non-profit organisation, has expressed delight over the posthumous presidential pardon granted the late governor of defunct Bendel state, Ambrose Alli.
BIGPEN reported that Ambrose Alli, among four other ex-convicts were granted presidential pardon by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday last week.
Reacting to the development, Oloye in a terse message to our correspondent, said that the presidential pardon granted the first civilian governor of the old Bendel, touches all who partook in his goodwill and benevolent as governor of the then Bendel.
“The presidential pardon is good news to us. We are so happy because we all benefited from his goodwill and benevolence. He was a good man, a beloved man and a founding father of our modern day democracy.
“Alli was a true definition of a democrat. In his time, our schools both nursery, primary and secondary schools has the best infrastructures and manpower. Today, products of Bendel schools are the best world over. The road infrastructures at that time also stood the test of time hence we were embittered that it was the same road issue that led to his incarceration.
“There are roads that Alli built in Benin city, even in the current Delta which was part of old Bendel that are still motorable till date. He was a great man hence this news came to us with great pleasure”, Oloye added.
He, however, thanked President Buhari and the APC-led government for the gesture which he said has rekindled the love all ‘Bendelites’ has for Alli.
