Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, Executive Director of Projects of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), says he is very qualified to occupy the position he is holding at the commission.

Ojougboh spoke following claims by a women group, Niger-Delta Women Integrity Vanguard led by Mrs. Grace Nene Iworiso which is calling for his sack on the grounds that he is not from an oil producing area.

Ojougboh said that as a trained medical doctor and someone with vast experience in the tech industry, he is fit to hold the position.

According to him, he hails from Ika South and Ika North East local government areas of Delta State, an oil producing areas recognised through the Act establishing the Delta State Oil Producing Areas’ Development Commission (DESOPADEC).

“It should be noted further, that the Legendary Akporoho Ojougboh family is from Ekuku Agbor and the Ohiembor family is from Agbor and Owa Alidinma.

He said that the gas flare happening in that part of the state take place in his backyard, saying that paternally and maternally he is from an oil producing area.

According to a statement by his media aide, Gabriel Choba, “mother of Dr Cairo Ojougboh is from Ika North East”, an oil producing area, he added.

The statement said that Dr Cairo Ojougboh has a good background in Engineering having attended Auchi Polytechnic from 1977 to 1979.

“The Acting EDP is a petroleum expert having under gone Petroleum Resources and managment courses in the last ten years as former Chairman house committee on Petroleum Resources.

He accused a Deltan whom he did not mention but said is eying the governorship seat of the State and wanting to be vice president in 2023 for sponsoring the protest and attack against him.

According to him, “Those sponsoring the group are afraid of the remarkable achievements of Dr. Cairo Ojougboh in the shortest period and because Ojougboh will never compromise his standard nor allow looting and indiscriminate award of contracts; their hope has been shattered and the only options left for them is Dr. Cairo Ojougboh must go so that they will have their way”.
