Suspected Cultists On Police Wanted List Arrested In Delta
Suspects believed to be members of vikings confraternity have been arrested in Delta State.
The suspects numbering seven have been on police wanted list in the state.
BIGPEN understands that the suspects were rounded up by operatives of the “Operation Delta Safe” headed by CSP Eyoh Aniette of the Delta State Police Command.
It was learnt that the suspects were responsible for the recent invasion of the ‘C’ Division of the Police Command in Asaba formerly headed by the present Commander of Operation Safe Delta, CSP Eyoh Anierie.
The “Operation Safe Delta” (OSD) is saddled with the responsibility of tackling the growing rate of criminal and cult related activities across the state.
Sources in know of the development, said that the suspects were arrested on Monday evening after they invaded the Operation Safe Delta Headquarters in Isele-Asagba near Asaba.
A source said that the suspects had attempted to release some of their arrested cult members and fraudsters in detention.
The source disclosed that the police acting on tip off, however repelled the invaders and arrested seven suspects.
They are presently in custody of the State Police Command in Asaba, according to a community sources who claimed that the suspects had been incriminated in series of cult related activities within the Asaba metropolis.
Confirming the development, the Commissioner of Police for the State Command, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa, said that the suspects would soon be taken to court for prosecution.
He said that the suspects had made useful information to the police and also confessed belonging to the vikings confraternity.
Inuwa, however warned some self acclaimed human rights groups who are calling on the Police for the release of the suspects to stay clear off the matter as, according to the CP, “the boys had already confessed their membership of the Vikings Confraternity”.
