Bayelsa Speaker Bows To Pressure, Steps Down

Monday Bubou-Obolo, speaker of Bayelsa state House of Assembly, has stepped down from his post and the deputy speaker, Abraham Ngobere, confirmed as the new speaker of the assembly.
The former speaker has been reported to have been under pressure from some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party in the State to step down.
Governor Douye Diri is from the same Senatorial District (Bayelsa Central Senatorial District) as the former speaker, Bubou-Obolo.
Recalls that the speaker before Bubou-Obolo, Mr. Tonye Isenah was also asked to step aside prior to the governorship election because he is from Kolokuma-Opokuma, same local government area as the governor.
