NDDC Asks Contractors To Go Back To Site Or Face The Consequences
The Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission, has warned all contractors handling NDDC projects in the region to return to sites or be ready to face the consequences thereof.
Acting Executive Director of commission, Dr Cairo Ojougboh, while speaking with newsmen, said this has become necessary because of President Mohamadu Buhari next level avowed commitment to ensure the Niger Delta Social Economic Development nerve centres are adequately connected by a network of quality and long-lasting sustainable projects.
The Ag Executive Director said the Federal Government’s Policy Drive was to ensure all public funds channelled into infrastructural development, were judiciously accounted for hence, President Mohamadu Buhari ordered a Forensic Audit and subsequent inauguration of Interim Management Committee to oversee the commission while the Audit lasted.
He said the Interim Management Committee compromised of three members would not fold its hands and watch its efforts sabotaged by any contractor, who might have attempted to cut corners rather than stick to acceptable standards.
He said: “The ongoing efforts to expand lasting Projects in the region have been due to the deliberate efforts of Federal Government to aggressively tackle the rot in infrastructure across the Niger Delta Region, to ensure that no part of it is left behind”.
Dr Ojougboh assured that all projects embarked upon by the commission would be completed.
He commended the People of the region for their unflinching support to the Interim Management Committee to draw government’s attention to these lapses witnessed by the commission in recent time; stating that the task of developing the region remained a collective responsibility of all.
