Vanguard Apologises To Osinbajo Over Offensive N90bn FIRS’ Report
The management of Vanguard Newspaper have apologised to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo over the offensive report which alleged that Osinbajo had mismanaged a whopping N90 billion released by Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS to prosecute the last general elections in favour of the APC.
The report in the newspaper which generated backlashes was credited to PDP chieftain, Timi Frank.
BIGPEN Online recalls Osinbajo had through his lawyer, Femi Falana written a letter to Vanguard and its Editor to immediately retract the said story or face the consequence of legal action.
The Vice President also asked the newspaper to within 24 hours tender a public apology over the story which he described as “offensive and derogatory”.
The Vanguard apology reads:
“On our website publication of Monday, September 23, 2019 we published a story titled “N90 Bn FIRS Election Fund: Osinbajo’s problem, not 2023 politics.” We have since discovered that the story lacks factual substance and we hereby retract it in its entirety
“We tender our profound apology to Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on whom the story touches directly and the All Progressives Congress, A.P.C. for any inconvenience or embarrassment the publication has occasioned them.
“We hold Professor Osinbajo, S.A.N. in the highest esteem, the statement signed by Vanguard Editor, Eze Anaba read.
