Thugs Attack Oshiomhole, Others Over Edo Assembly Crisis
Mr. Seidu Oshiomhole, representing Etsako West 11, and younger brother of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was on Tuesday beaten to pulp by irate youths in Benin, Edo state capital.
BIGPEN Online understands that Mr. Oshiomhole was among the 15 lawmakers that were outsmarted by the Governor Godwin Obaseki’s backed new Assembly leadership that was installed late Monday night.
They were in a hotel meeting over the crisis rocking the Assembly when some youths invaded the premises and descended on them with clubs.
Sources said several of the lawmakers including Mr Oshiomhole and a former deputy speaker, Mr. Victor Tiger Edoror who later reported the assault at the police headquarters in Benin were badly injured and hospitalised.
Recall that nine of the Obaseki backed lawmakers had Monday night elected Mr. Frank Okiye representing Esan North East I as Speaker weeks after the governor refused to transmit a letter inaugurating the Assembly.
