JUST IN: Ex-CJN’s Journey To Become An Ex-Convict Begins As CCT Find Him Guilty
Embattled Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, has been pronounced guilty of false assets declaration.
He was convicted Thursday by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) and stripped of all paraphernalia of office as former country’s CJN.
Delivering judgement on the case, Danladi Umar, CCT chairman, held that by the provision of CCT Act. section 36, the defendant is hereby convicted as follows:
- The defendant is removed as CJN, chairman of NJC.
- The defendant is banned from holding public office for the next 10 years.
- The monies in the 5 bank accounts are confiscated and seized.
The monies in the 5 accounts are confiscated because the defendant failed to explain the source of the huge sums of money in the account.
