The Committee for the Defense of Human Rights(CDHR) in Delta State has alleged a child trafficking sydicate operational in the state.

CDHR alleged that the Delta state Chief Judge, Justice Marshall Mukoro and Women Affairs Commissioner, Rev. Mrs Omatsola Williams were benefiting from the purported child trifficking ring.

The human rights group therefore called on Department of State Security, DSS to arrest and prosecution the duo and others allegedly involved in the dastardly act, saying the act has been going on under the watch of the duo and some officials of the ministry of women affairs in the state.

Chairman of the body, Dr. Kehinde Prince Taiga and his secretary, Comrade Jonathan Giama, who addressed newsmen in Warri, claimed that evidence abound of how the cartel have been carrying out their nefarious activities and such evidence already presented to the security agencies.

The statement reads in full: “We are by this press statement calling on the attention of the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS) Mr Yusuf Magaji Bichi:

“That One Mr. Emmanuel Daubryl Esq. the Director of Legal Service (DLS), State Security Service (DSS) Asaba had played host to our fellow comrades and complainant, Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho on three consecutive times including 7th of March 2019 to substantiate the various allegations of Manifest illegal adoption and child trafficking by Delta Women Affairs Commissioner, Rev. Mrs Omatsola Williams and other Judicial officers and workers of the Delta State Judiciary.

“In the three consecutive visits to DSS office Asaba, CDHR ensured that some of our members and witnesses accompanied Comrade Aghogho in the said visit and the following salient points were confirmed to be incontrovertible

1. That dozens of evidence were submitted to DSS investigator in charge of case at Asabawhich substantiated the allegation that the Delta State Commissioner of Women Affairs, Rev. Mrs Omatsola Williams has been stealing children , unlawfully named them Orphans, unlawfully detained these children in any orphanage of their choice, unlawfully released these said children to child thieves/traffickers for three consecutive months who unlawfully parade themselves as Adopters and finally the said commissioner criminally connived with the Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice Marshal Mukoro to unlawfully obtain an adoption Order from any magistrate court of their choice in Delta State to conceal the crime of child trafficking/illegal adoption in gross violation of the Delta State Child Right Law.

2. That some of the evidence submitted to DSS includes a copy of the official letter issued under the directive of the Delta Women Commissioner dated 12/5/18 for the trafficking of a child (name withheld) to certain persons described as Mr and Mrs “XY” pending adoption order, an extract of Vanguard online newspaper of 18/8/18 containing the information where Delta Women Commissioner, Rev. Mrs Omatsola Williams discloses that a total of 693 Adoption applications were received by her Ministry out of which 136 children were released from different approved orphanages to prospective parents by her, and the letter addressed to comrade Aghogho by the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of Justice Asaba dated 20/5/18 with reference number CS.651/93 constituting an additional Family Courts in Delta State during the pendency of an ongoing National Judicial Council(NJC) investigation on the missing 50 family courts and 104 assessors in Delta State amongst others.

3. That other evidence includes Court Orders from the Family Court Division of the Warri Magisterial evidencing illegal adoption and child trafficking by the Delta State Judiciary

4. That DSS investigator on 7/3/19 told comrade Aghogho and our witness, comrade (Pastor) Chanomi Michael in confidence in his office at Asaba that the Rev. Mrs Omatsola Williams and the Chief Judge of Delta State conceded to the allegation of child trafficking/illegal adoption as they tried to defend the said allegation but they could not due to the overwhelming evidence tendered before them and we verily believed him as such.

5. That CDHR protest against DSS at the moment is that, over seventy orphanages with hundreds of children are still under the care and control of the said Rev. Mrs Omatsola Williams during the pendency of the ongoing DSS investigation with no provision to seal off these orphanages in order to protect the lives of these affected children.

6. That DSS investigation is at the detriment of children and since there has been no arrest and measures by DSS to curtail this ugly situation even with the overwhelming evidence tendered before it

7. That we demand for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Rev. Mrs. Omatsola Williams for conceding to the allegation of child trafficking and illegal adoption as she is not above the law.

8. That we demand for the confiscation of all adoption forms meant for sale and sold by Rev. Mrs Omatsola Williams as the sales of adoption by Rev. Mrs. Omatsola amounts to child trafficking and illegal adoption

9. That we demand for the accounts analysis of all adoption form sold by Rev. Mrs Omatsola Williams.

10. That we demand for the immediate sealing off of all registered and unregistered orphanages in Delta State with the affected children taken into DSS custody.

11. That we demand for a comprehensive investigation of the Delta State Chief Judge, Justice Marshal Mukoro by the DSS as it relates to child trafficking/illegal adoption in the state.

12. That we demand for the immediate rescue of all children sold by Rev. Mrs Omatsola Williams and the Delta Ministry of Women Affairs from 2008 till date

13. That we demand for the whereabouts of the 50 family courts and 104 assessors constituted prior before 2013 as announced by the then Delta Women Affairs Commissioner Chief Mrs Betty Efekhoda as published on Pointer Newspaper of 21st November 2013″.
