Chief Newuwumi Omolubi, a Niger Delta activist and member of the Campaign Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta state, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to make clarification on his shoot at sight order.

Buhari was quoted to have order security agencies to shoot anyone found trying to snatch ballot box on Election Day.

Omolubi, said he wanted to know at which stage will the military raise their guns to shoot at the person especially in the riverine community where the people most times help INEC staff in conveying their materials to polling units.

He said the utterance was dangerous and disturbing to them in the riverine areas especially in his ward, where about four military house boats are already stationed.

He said, “in between the four communities in my ward, there is military house boat. Now if the people who most times help the INEC people to convey their materials, at which stage will Buhari want the soldier to shoot.

“The community are the ones that help the INEC staff to move this material because of the distance and the difficult terrain, so at which stage does it become dangerous for my people.

“I am seeing this clarification to guide my people to know when to stop their services to the Adhoc staff of INEC to avoid killing of innocent civilians whose main concern is to hep INEC smooth operation.”

Omolubi, however called on Niger Deltan to come out enmasse on Saturday and cast their vote without fear of intimidation.
